Abbey del Sol - Apt #11

One of the most popular apartments at Abbey del Sol. Located on the third floor this airy, sunny apartment has huge windows that let in a refreshing cross breeze. Relax on your spacious private balcony overlooking the sparkling blue pool and lush garden; the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee and meals. The balcony is partially shaded but has lots of sun if you want to relax in the loungers to read or sunbath. This is one of our larger apartments; spacious, comfortable, and well maintained with a king bed covered with 500 thread count sheets. Well-equipped kitchen with granite countertops. Free Wi-Fi, bikes, and a large flat-screen TV. Linens supplied.

The Abbey del Sol property has 7 comfortable apartments. Rent individually for couples and small families or in combination for groups and large families. Beautiful gardens, a refreshing pool. 2 blocks to the beach, and 8 blocks to the town square. The central office is onsite with English-speaking staff to help you with anything you need.

  My husband and I stayed 4 days during Thanksgiving. We loved the apt and the view over the pool area from the extremely large balcony. The apt was well appointed and comfortable. The availability of beach chairs, umbrellas, bicycles, beach bags and towels is a great "extra" perk that you don't see elsewhere. The staff is so nice and accomodating. We are looking at staying again possibly next summer. It is a bit of a walk into the square, maybe 8 blocks, but nothing most couldn't do. Just something to know for anyone with mobility challenges.

  Apartment 11 was a great place to stay. Comfy beds, super well equipped kitchen, nice big balcony space. The communal pool was great (usually we were the only ones there!) and location was quiet, and close to the beach and the town. The staff were friendly and helpful with everything we needed. We were very pleased with the overall villa and amenities especially the bikes. We rode everywhere and they were especially great when getting groceries. Our unit 11 was large, bright and clean and was very well equipped. We loved the traditional Mexican decor. The folks in the office were always pleasant and very helpful. Mariela helped me and booked a pedicure with a local esthetician and it was the best pedicure I ever had. We love Abbey del Sol. See you next March!

  Apartment 11 is definitely the best apartment in the Abbey del sol property. It has the most privacy and the best view.
  Well-equipped and colourful.
  Big comfortable bed and sofa-bed.
  We liked everything about our stay there.
  The only minor point would be the street to get to Abbey del Sol. It is full of holes, which is quite dangerous when driving around with the bikes, especially as soon as it gets dark.

  This property is very well located in the desirable north side of the beach from town. 2 very short blocks from the beach, with Unico Beach Bar and The diving Shop beach bar right there! Paradise bar also nearby on the beach, and you can get massages on the beach as well. location feels safe, and the grounds at Abbey Del sol are immaculately kept. First class staff, which does make a difference esp if you're new to Puerto Morelos. Apt #11 was lovely - traditional and yet well maintained and updated in places (is not always the case in this town) all the windows and doors worked perfectly, windows on all 4 sides for great cross-breeze, strong water pressure, and a fantastic private roofdeck perfect for early evening cervesa before eating in town. Town is a 10 minute walk from here and feels safe - plenty of people taking that walk, so if you take a shuttle To Puerto Morelos from Cancun airport you don't even need a car! No you are not "on the beach" at this location but it is truly so close, hard to make the case for the additional $$ to rent beachfront in this town!

  We are so fortunate to have found this property. Our adult son, required a place to stay for a month plus. This wonderful property exceeded all expectations. The GM, Jin is amazing, attending to all of our needs, while his staff were super attentive. Our son was so happy, to find his suite super clean, fully contained, fresh linens, towels, toiletries, kitchen fully stocked, with all cooking and dining needs, and weekly cleaning service. Couldn't ask for more, with another luxury being pool side close to the beautiful grounds, and a BBQ for tenant's use. Home away from home, but better. Our son was also onsite during the Hurricanes...a scary time, but the GM and staff, were so attentive, and kept all tenants, and property safe. Jin, provided our son his own phone as soon as the power was up, to contact us in Canada! Amazing.. and we were so relieved to hear, our son was fine, and everyone else in Abbey Del Sol, were also fine. Again, this place goes above and beyond. We remain very thankful, and would recommend this property to anyone looking for the perfect place, tucked away in paradise. We hope to get there ourselves! Forever grateful.

  We really loved the refreshing breezes on the large balcony. I spent many hours on the comfortable chaise lounges and we ate at the bistro table and chairs. The interior is lovely and well equipped. It is about 1km from town but that’s just what we needed to digest all that good Mexican food. Staff were very friendly and helpful. No daily housekeeping provided.

  Even though we arrived after 6pm, Jin was there to welcome us and get us settled in to our apartment. The website photos of Abbey del Sol are accurate and the unit was just as expected. The large private balcony is a real plus (and there are electrical outlets if you want to plug in a computer or radio). The kitchen had everything we needed, including a new fridge. The unit has satellite TV (with limited channels), a DVD player and very good wifi. The available bicycles are great for getting around PoMo. The beach is a short one block walk (there is a public boardwalk access and also Unico Beach Club nearby). The onsite staff is just great. Mariela is always so welcoming and helpful (restaurant recommendations, calling a taxi, etc). The property is well maintained, quiet and feels safe. I would definitely stay here again, or at one of the other local properties managed by Abbey del Sol.

  We couldn't have had a better time staying at Abbey Del Sol. The staff were so welcoming and helpful with calling taxi's and answering our questions. We wish we would have stayed there longer! If we ever come back, we will absolutely be staying there!! This apartment has a HUGE balcony, a comfy bed, and an awesome view of the pool. I never felt unsafe because there is a specific key for the gate and its locked after 9 or 10.

  We have been staying at Abbey for several years now and it is a fantastic experience every time. We stayed in number 11 and it was clean and spacious with great natural light. Fans and AC worked great and it's about a 1 min walk to the beach. There's a library full of DVD's if you need a night in, and free bikes to use around town. But the best part is the staff. Friendly and knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile to make your stay a good one. There's no reason to go anywhere else!

  We were picked up at the airport by Jin around 6pm. He was kind enough to stop at Chedraui so we could pick up a few things to get our vacation started. While we were in the store, Jin dropped our suitcases off at the condo and came back to Chedraui to pick us up. When we arrived at Abbey del Sol, we instantly fell in love with the beautiful courtyard and the overall layout of the property. Jin showed us to our condo #11 and left us to get settled. When we walked out onto the sundeck, we thought we'd died and gone to heaven. The sundeck is HUGE!!! There is a palapa for shade with a table and 2 chairs and a wonderfully big area with 2 loungers and small table. My hubby paced it off and figured the total deck is approximately 40' x 15'.... Did we luck out??!!!! We spent a lot of time enjoying the sundeck during the day and at night. The staff at Abbey were wonderful. We got one linen change each week as well as our condo cleaned in the middle of our stay. If you needed anything, all you have to do is ask the staff. My hubby and I agreed this had been the first vacation we've taken where we had absolutely nothing to do and all day to do it.... Loved every minute of our stay.

  Abbey del Sol apartment 11 is on of the nicest vacation rentals we have ever stayed at. The huge deck is amazing for relaxing in the sun or shade. The staff at Abbey del Sol is so accommodating and helpful. My husband became ill while we were there and the office manager Nancy was so kind to drive us to an English speaking doctor on a Sunday!! These apartments are a short one and a half block walk to one of the largest and loveliest beaches in the Caribbean. The town of Puerto Morelos is very quaint and the people so friendly. We ate at several different restaurants in town and all provided excellent food, service and price. The town is very well lit at night and very safe. I walked the eight blocks from Abbey del Sol into the main town square alone and felt very comfortable doing so. I really cannot say enough good things about Abbey del Sol and Puerto Morelos!!

  My husband and I stayed at Abbey del Sol #11 for our honeymoon in August and it was the perfect vacation. The property was exactly as described and photographed; the bedroom was large, the king bed was comfortable, the balcony was spacious and shaded, and the living room/kitchen had all the amenities we could hope for--including a blender! The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the apartment also has many windows with screens to let in the breeze. Everything was in perfect condition when we arrived, very clean and neatly organized. All of the furniture was plush and comfortable.
  
  Abbey is about a 15 minute walk from the square, but the bikes that they provide make it very easy to get into town, plus the beach--and Unico, one of the beach bars--are only a 3 minute walk away. We liked that it was remote and very quiet, and we felt safe walking to and from the square at night.
  The staff is very professional and very helpful, and everyone we interacted with spoke English fluently. Jin provided easy transportation from and back to the airport. Nancy and Milko were very helpful when we wanted to find tour and excursion groups. There was a useful informational binder in our room that we referred to often.
  We found that the restaurants were very affordable (compared to the ones in the Northeast U.S.) and the food was delicious. As two adults eating all of our meals out (and ordering based on what we wanted to eat, not price) plus going to bars, we spent under $350 on food and drink over 6 days.
  
  I'd love to return to Abbey del Sol and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation in Puerto Morelos.

  Abbey del Sol was exactly what we were looking for. It was comfortable, clean, the staff were friendly and the location was good. It's not right in the center of town, but that works out well because it's a quiet haven away from noise. It's only about a block to the nearest beach, which also happens to be an area that's a bit less busy than the beach next to the dock. For those looking to go into the center of town, it's a manageable walk or a quick bike ride (and they have bikes you can borrow for free).
  
  We really enjoyed our experience here, including our own private balcony and they lovely pool area. I would recommend the experience without reservation for anyone who wants to avoid the mono-resorts without compromising on quality.

Small crowds on the beach on the weekend, but had the beach to ourselves Monday and Tuesday minus someone walking by every hour or so. First time in Puerto Morelos and was surprised at the amount of restaurants to choose from. Can say many meals were excellent and no meal was poor at any of the establishments.   Once again, Abbey exceeds expectationds! The lush gardens & beautifully maintained property welcome you before you even check in. Once at the office, we met Nancy who is very friendly, and helpful. During our stay we had a dental emergency, Nancy was able to make some calls and get an appt that day! The other staff, Freddy & Jin, were always available w smiles and advice/suggestions to any questions you may have. A tour of cenote w Freddy was great fun & far more interesting than joining a large group. Now the unit.... Amazing! The furnishings must be brand new, everything so crisp & white, better than at home lol. The rooftop deck w palapa provides both sun & shade all day and is a wonderful spot for morning coffee or maybe an evening snack. You can do that because of the fully equipped kitchen! The first night we had a signal problem w tv, freddy came right away to check & anyway new cable was installed so I don't think it will happen again for future guests. Overall, I can't say enough good things about the whole Abbey del Sol experience. I recommend you check them out for yourself, you won't regret it. My only regret is having to go home...

  Abbey del Sol is a charming and beautifully maintained small apartment rental property complex in Puerto Morelos. The apartments are very tastefully decorated and provided with all the conveniences should you wish to cook. We don't cook because the local restaurants are great.
  
  But the best thing about Abbey is the many small improvements that the owners, Abby ad Tiff, have made over the years. It is those minor tweaks which reveal the continuing care and pride they have in the property. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
  
  Of course, this is Mexico away from the all-inclusives. There are barking dogs in the night. The streets still have pot holes. But, traffic is virtually non-existent. This is a walking town. Puerto Morelos, although slowly changing, still has the laid-back charm of a mixed Mexican and foreigner locale. And, don't forget the great beach!

  Yes, they rent condos, but it is much more than that. With excellent onsite management and units/an office stocked with almost everything you may need, they go far beyond almost every other condo rental place.
  
  It is a long walk to the downtown/restaurants. However, you are still in town (unlike other PM condos which are actually outside the town proper), the walk is along paved roads with streetlights and bikes are available onsite.

  Puerto Morelos is growing up but not as in big, high-rise resorts. Abbey del Sol is one of the many examples of small vacation rental properties. There were only 7 units in the 2 buildings which were totally secured. The plantings were lush, the small dipping pool certainly large enough to cool off after a beach walk...after using the outdoor shower. Our unit had a small kitchen which was perfect for two. My only regret is that prices are rising which makes this property out of our price range next year. I am proud of the leaders in Puerto Morelos for holding out in order to keep it a Mexican family vacation spot. It is ideally situated between Cancun and Playa de Carmen.

The location is ideal for exploring the Yucatan. The restaurants in town and across the mangalar in the Colonia are excellent. The beach is beautiful and there is plenty to do - even for a 2 week stay! We will definitely go back and suggest that you do too.

  Stay at ADS was perfect. Condo was light and spacious with a wonderful balcony overlooking the pool. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the unit was well equipped with everything from housewares, cleaning supplies to beach towels. Located on the far northern edge of town and only a block and a half from a prime section of beach. A bit of a hike to town center but we used the free bicycles to get around. Staff were very helpful and a a good source of information on local attractions, snorkeling guides, etc. Highly recommended.

  Abbey del Sol is a nicely run place with friendly staff very near to the beach. They provide nice extras such as fee bikes and a huge (free) DVD-collection. The town Puerto Morelos is a quiet relaxed little town with some nice places to eat.
  Distance between the apartment and the town is a bit far to walk (especialy in the dark) but you can get a bike for free (or ofcourse rent a car).
  For me it was very convenient because I wanted privacy. The apartment #11 where I stayed had a nice balcony overlooking pool and garden.
  3 constructive remarks:
  -pick at the airport did not make me happy, first there was nobody there so I had to look for about 20-30 minutes and then I got charged US$ 50 with a bit high exchange rate since I did not have US$ (I am in Mexico after all). 13 peso for US$ 1, so 650 pesos. I could have taken a taxi for 360 pesos, but ok way back was only 400 pesos and evrybody has to make some moeny.
  -could be a bit cleaner especially glasses, forks, knives etc. Was quite happy my wife was not with me as she woud have been cleaning for a day ( I did not by the way).
  - I stayed 6 nights and apartment was not cleaned once (no new towels, sheets etc). Probably policy and normal and I could have asked, but still I would have liked a one time clenaing.
  Overall I really enjoyed the stay (also had great weather)and think it is a peaceful and friendly place with respect for privacy. Good value for money

  The apartment was spacious and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen. Owners and staff are very helpful. We arrived early in the morning in Cancun-Jin picked us up at the airport, then took us to get money at an ATM and to buy some groceries before we arrived at Abbey del Sol around 7 am. Our room wasn't ready yet so they gave us another room to use until we could check into #11-very thoughful of them (we didn't sleep on the overnight flight so we really appreciated this!).

  This was our third year at Abbey del Sol and our second in Abbey Two, apartment 11. It doesn't get any better. The balcony looks over the pool and the neighboring houses. Lots to view. This is where we hang the hammock and rearrange the lounge chairs to catch the best sun or shade depending on the mood. The king size bed is a lovely firm one with many pillows for building a nest. The kitchen has all the necessary utensils. The staff loves managing this property and does it so well. Abby loves to tweak the properties, always adding this and that. We love it here!

  We had an absolutely wonderful time in Puerto Morelos & at Abbey Del Sol Too! Our apartment was a much needed break from our beautiful (but over the top) all inclusive resort. We loved being in the heart of Puerto Morelos and felt that Abbey Del Sol was a perfect location to see everything in town & so relaxing and quiet to come home to every night. We made good use of the bikes and felt very comfortable venturing over to La Colonia by bus to shop, eat and stroll around. (thanks for the quick last minute trip Tiff!)
  
  We fell in love with Puerto much so that we even tried to change our flight to stay for a few more days!!!
  
  Jin & Freddy were also both so friendly and accommodating. Our transfers back and forth to the airport were a breeze and Jin answered a lot of questions for us along the way

  Had a great time, it's so relaxing in that area. You can use the bikes if you want to go downtown, or you just a block away from the beach by foot. You have the impression that you are at home but in a vacation area, thiers even a mini BlockBuster at the front desk. This is my second experiance at ABBY 2, every time its a great experiance!
